Website History.

John Speed launched The Saab Surgery.com in August 2004 after working for four years as a Sales Executive for Western Saab Newcastle, the North East's only Saab Franchised Dealer.

The creation of TheSaabSurgery.com came about when John discovered the 'Niche' for a company in the North East to specialise in the slightly older, slightly higher mileage Saabs that the main agents choose not to re-sell. These cars may be older than 3 years or have more than 60,000 miles, but it is widely recognised that Saabs can cope with mileages well in excess of 100,000 miles.

John has owned severall Saabs with over 200,000 miles recorded and his family have driven Saabs since 1971. Before his time at Western Saab John Speed worked as a Classic Car Restorer at Hamsterly Mill Garage, repairing, maintaining and restoring a wide variety of British and European Classic Cars, including some of the early Saab 96's from the 1970's.

John has also been an active member of the Saab Owners Club and The Saab Enthusiasts Club over recent years. Now John has a unique blend of previous experience from the hands on side of vehicle preparation to the sales and negotiating skills required to run his own business. John built a reputation for retailing superb quality Saabs and other German and Swedish cars.
